Benitez - NapoliAmidst talks of Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has cast doubts over the potential appointment of Napoli coach Rafael Benitez.

After having been knocked out of the Champions League and losing the La Liga title to Barcelona, Ancelotti looks set to be relieved of his role as Real Madrid coach. Benitez has thus far been one of the main candidates touted as Ancelotti’s potential replacement.

Along with Real Madrid fans, Florentino Perez would not be particularly impressed by Benitez and his credentials however. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid have established contact with Benitez but Perez would be far from considering the Napoli coach a viable candidate.

During his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, Benitez was coach of Real Madrid’s Castilla (youth team) as well as he served as the senior side’s assistant coach under Vicente del Bosque in 1994.
