Rafael Benitez NapoliReal Madrid are reportedly preparing to announce Rafael Benitez as their new coach, with an event scheduled for Wednesday.

The Spaniard paved the way for a move to Los Blancos by confirming his departure from Napoli at the end of the season, and now reports have suggested that Real Madrid want a swift announcement to be made.

According to Sportmediaset, the La Liga giants have pencilled in a presentation for midday on Wednesday.

Reports claim that Benitez will be tasked with fulfilling the club hierarchy’s lofty ambitions, which would require the former Liverpool man to claim league, domestic cup and Champions League honours.

55-year-old Benitez is calling time on a two year stint at the Partenopei, where he guided the Neopolitan side to a Coppa Italia success as well as a Champions League finish in his first season.

He is replacing Carlo Ancelotti in the Real Madrid hotseat, with the Italian receiving his marching orders earlier in the week.
