Atalanta boss Edy Reja has revealed that his men are ready to give their all in their home clash with Lazio on Sunday as they continue to fight for salvation.

The Orobici are currently in 17th place in the Serie A standings with 32 points, leaving them eight points clear of the relegation zone for now, and the tactician wants to see his team continue their four-game unbeaten run by securing a positive result against the Biancocelesti, which he feels is possible to due his squad’s determination as of late.

Reja spoke during his pre-match press conference on Saturday about the battle with his former club Lazio and commented on the improvements Atalanta must make in order to earn some more points before the season comes to a close.

“We can surely expect a difficult game because Lazio are having a great season, but our goal is to stay on the right path and give continuity to our recent positive results,” said the 69-year-old.

“The team we will face is one that will be looking to defend second place, but we will play to win.

“It makes sense for us to believe we can do so, as you have to give the utmost attention and concentration to make as few mistakes as possible against a strong team like this, because you can be punished immediately.

“We are physically doing well and we saw much progress made in our recent 2-2 draw with Cesena, both in our style of play and formation, but we know we still have to improve in defence and work on taking better advantage of the chances we create.

“However, we’ve proven that we’re still alive and we want to continue to aim for the best results possible because we still need points to guarantee us safety at the moment.

“So our plan is to face our remaining opponents with the right mentality, especially tomorrow considering the quality of Lazio, as they’re a team with technical skills and exceptional speed.”
