Fiorentina defender Michah Richards has revealed that he’s unsatisfied with his lack of playing time since arriving at the Gigliati at the beginning of the season.

The 26-year-old, who is about to finish up his season-long loan at the Viola from Manchester City once the campaign comes to a close, has made just 10 Serie A appearances this term thus far despite promises that he would be given the opportunity to play a lot more and he admits that he’ll be looking for a new club this summer.

Richards spoke to talkSPORT about his current situation at Fiorentina and commented on his mission to find a new team where he can secure a starting spot in the squad.

“I haven’t played enough at Fiorentina,” said the England international. “I think that I’ve done well enough to earn a spot in the starting 11.

“Obviously it can be more difficult when you’re on loan. However, I’ve still loved every experience and I feel better as a player.

“Sunday is my last game and then I’ll be around a table with my family. It’s best to move forward.

“I will join a team where I’m guaranteed to find more space. In the last two seasons at Manchester City, Pablo Zabaleta has done very well and I have found myself on the bench more.

“Then I went to Italy and was guaranteed more playing time, but then the formation changed and the coach believed that he had players who could play better than me in certain positions.

“However, the only thing I can do now is hold my head high.”
