Genoa midfielder Tomas Rincon believes his side matched Roma in a 2-0 loss at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A.

The Rossoblu drop to seventh following defeat in the capital, with Seydou Doumbia and Alessandro Florenzi scoring either side of half-time to condemn Genoa to just their second defeat in seven matches.

“We played on a par with Roma, but it was not enough,” the Venezuelan toldĀ the press.

“It was important to have the right attitude on the pitch, we won our last two games when we believed in our own ability but today we must not forget that Roma are a strong team at home and can beat all opponents.”

Sitting just one point behind city rivals Sampdoria, the Grifone may consider themselves the form team in the race for a Europa League spot, despite Sunday’s defeat, and Rincon maintains they will fight until the season’s end.

“We will play to the end. We look at ourselves and not through the eyes of our opponents, we trust our values.”
