Gonzalo Rodriguez has drawn similarities in the style of Fiorentina and Sevilla, as the defender look towards taking on the Spaniards in the Europa League semi-final.
Both the Rojiblancos and the Viola sit fifth in their respective leagues, with Rodriguez’s Fiorentina looking to knock out the holders at the semi-final stage, which begins on Thursday night on the Iberian peninsula.
“We have a style of play similar to the Spanish side, we like controlling the ball and always impose our rhythm onto the game,” said the 31-year-old to the Madrid-based newspaper Marca.
“We always do this regardless of opponent, and that will not change on Thursday.”
Sevilla have the upper-hand when it comes to European titles, claiming three Europa Leagues to the Gigliati’s zero, but that could be about to change in the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan when the game kicks off at 21:05 CET.
