Roma have identified Marseille’s Steve Mandanda as their number one summer transfer target to replace the ageing Morgan De Sanctis.

Head coach Rudi Garcia is keen to find a replacement for the 38-year-old De Sanctis, who has one more season left on his contract and in recent months has been linked with a host of top keepers including Chelsea’s Petr Cech.

Now according to France’s TF1, the 30-year-old Mandanda, who has one year left on his current Marseille deal, could be tempted to play under Garcia in Rome and provide a long term solution in goal. Roma’s number two keeper, Lukasz Skorupski is also reportedly set to depart the Giallorossi having failed to make an impression at the club.

Mandanda has spent the last eight seasons with Marseille and has been a virtual ever-present since joining from Le Havre, missing just a handful of games, making in excess of 350 appearances for the French side.
