Empoli defender Daniele Rugani has revealed that he is in no hurry to depart the club for league champions Juventus.

The 20-year-old is owned by the Champions League finalists but has spent a successful season on loan at the Tuscan club and would not rule out staying at the Stadio Carlo Castellani for a further year.

Speaking from the sidelines at the Niccolo Galli Memorial, he said: “I am ready to get involved with Juventus whenever they ask me but I am in no hurry at the same time.

“It is important for me just to concentrate on getting ready and improving and if it next season or the one after that then that will be their choice. I am ready to get involved and give it everything.

“This year has helped me so much. It is a tough league but I think that I have grown.”

It has certainly been an enjoyable breakout season for the Italy U21 star, who he will play for at the European Championships this summer, and one that he admits has been beyond anything they could have imagined.

“This has been a season beyond expectations. Nobody gave us a chance and had us left for dead but we surprised everyone, even ourselves!” he smiled. “On a personal level, it has been a positive season, I think I’ve did well.”
