Sampdoria are set to go toe-to-toe with cross city rivals Genoa for the signing of Hull City striker Abel Hernandez in the summer.
The 24-year-old Uruguayan international left Palermo to join the Tigers in the summer, but has failed to justify his €14 million price-tag, notching only four goals this campaign.
Gazzetta TV reports that with Hull suffering relegation to the Championship, the club are willing to sell the player if an appropriate offer arrives.
Both Genoa and Sampdoria are keen on bringing Hernandez back to Italy to reinforce their strike-force for next season.
Hernandez netted 36 goals in 122 appearances for the Rosanero, before making the move to England last summer.
