Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri has enthused over his side’s season, before challenging them to ensure a fitting end to the campaign by beating Inter.

The Azzurri have surprised many by avoiding relegation and will finish the season comfortably, though Sarri has not yet confirmed if his future remains at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Sarri urged his players on at his pre-game press conference.

“I want a real performance,” he stated, “I’ve seen the team play well during the week and I want them to finish well.

“We had a great season and I hope that the last chapter is worthy of that.”

The Neapolitan was, however, unable to confirm if he would be serving a fourth season with Empoli.

“This week I will see the director and make a decision. I will talk quickly with the club because it is a club about which I care a lot.

“These three years have been at a very high level, now I have Empoli inside me and it will remain in my heart whatever happens.

“I will talk with the director about many things, but my decision is not linked to other teams.”
