Marco Sau CagliariCagliari striker Marco Sau was honest in his assessment of the team’s season, as he spoke to reporters at the final whistle of this afternoon’s match away to Cesena.

The forward hit the only goal in a 1-0 victory for the Isolani, scoring an injury time winner after having come on as a second half substitute.

“We are desperate to finish this campaign as well as we can,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We’ll do all we can to win again next week but the season has been terrible and we have all failed.

“We need to roll up our sleeves and try to get back into Serie A as soon as possible.

“I can’t comment on my own future, I have no idea what will happen.”

Cagliari, along with Cesena and Parma have been relegated to Serie B after a poor campaign which included a host of coaching changes, as the likes of Zdenek Zeman and Gianfranco Zola failed to save the club from the drop.
