Turkish referee earns officiating duties for Champions League final

Turkey’s Cuneyt Cakir has been named as official referee for the 2015 Champions League final to be contested between Juventus and Barcelona in Berlin on June 6th.

The 38-year-old has been an international referee since 2006, and will take to the Olympiastadion with two compatriot assistant referees, with the fourth official hailing from Sweden.

An official announcement was made on Monday that Cakir, who has overseen at total of 70 UEFA matches, will manage the 60th final of Europe’s premier club competition after being selected by the UEFA Referees Committee.

In the current competition’s season, the Turkish official has overseen four Champions League matches, along with three matches in the Europa League.
