Two Roma fans have been stabbed ahead of Monday’s crucial Derby della Capitale against Lazio.
Despite an increased police presence for the game, high tensions between the two sets of fans reached boiling point and several scuffles broke out, resulting in the two stabbings.
The two victims were rushed to the Gemelli hospital after receiving wounds to the abdomen and according to RAI, fortunately neither individual was in a life threatening condition.
There was added chaos as traffic came to a complete standstill as the police decided to close off much of the city centre to traffic which has resulted in a number of vehicles being parked in dangerous positions on major thoroughfares.
