Torino coach Giampiero Ventura has congratulated his side’s performance following a 2-0 victory at home to Chievo and singled out Maxi Lopez for praise after the Argentine scored a brace.

The Granata endured a frustrating first half but ensured the points remained in Turin after Lopez scored two close range goals in an 18 minute period.

“I am satisfied to beat Chievo who have not lost in two and a half months and believe the victory was deserved,” Ventura told Mediaset Premium at the conclusion of the match.

“I want to congratulate the group for the performance despite the many difficulties we faced in the match.

“Maxi [Lopez] is doing well and could do even more, but he must make a choice whether he wants to be a footballer or a protagonist.

“He played at Barcelona who are not a normal side, but he needs to keep the desire to improve.

“After this performance he can become a very important player for us.”
