Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has all but confirmed that Inter forward Lukas Podolski is will return to the Gunners after the completion of his six-month loan in Italy.
The German forward has endured an unconvincing tenure with the Nerazzurri, with his 14 appearances amounting to just a single goal in a victory in April against Udinese, and Wenger is already counting on him for next season.
“We have several players on loan, amongst them are Podolski, [Yaya] Sanogo and [Joel] Campbell who will return to the club,” stated Wenger at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s final match of the season against West Bromwich Albion.
“The goal is to have a big squad to ensure healthy internal competition: a number too high or too low can affect the players of the season by killing competition.”
