English Premier League side West Ham have reportedly made an offer for Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang.

The Spaniard has impressed many this season, and has also attracted the interest of Tottenham in recent weeks, but the latest reports put the Hammers in pole position.

West Ham coach Sam Allardyce sanctioned a formal €8.3 million swoop for the player on Thursday, according to The Daily Mirror.

Although reports claim that the Blucerchiati are holding out for a greater cash sum, a transfer would represent an €8.1 million profit on a player brought to Italy as a teenager.

Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is apparently keen at the prospect of having additional transfer budget for the forthcoming summer transfer window, even if it comes as a result of selling a player who has featured in 31 league games this season.

The enforcer has picked up 12 yellow cards so far this season.
