Lazio hero ‘Pino’ Wilson has called on his old club’s current stars to put in the performance of their careers in Wednesday night’s Coppa Italia final against Juventus.

Born in Darlington in England, his family moved to Naples before his first birthday and upon moving to the peninsula, he would go on to sign for the Aquile for whom he made over 300 appearances and won a Scudetto in 1974.

Speaking to TMW about the task that faces the capital club, Wilson said: “They must play the game of their lives. It is a one off game and the gap between technical qualities is lesser on these occasions.

“It is an important match for both teams – for Lazio who really want to win a trophy and Juve who are looking for a treble. Both teams will play a very careful game. Juventus are technically better but I am sure Lazio will be well motivated with a good mental approach and that is key.

“The crowd will also be predominantly Laziale and it should be a good game between two teams who like to have the ball and move it at speed.”
