AC Milan midfielder joins Panathinaikos

Michael Essien has officially left AC Milan and joined Greek side Panathinaikos.

The Ghanian arrived at the Rossoneri in January 2014 but has now has signed a two-year deal with Oi Prasinoi.

“I am very happy that I am here and that I will continue my career in Panathinaikos,” he told the Greek club’s official website.

“I am looking forward to meeting my new team and winning trophies with my new teammates.

“I want to give back the love that everyone has shown me and to thank the fans that welcomed me so warmly.”

Essien made just 13 Serie A appearances for Milan this season.
