Sulley Muntari and AC Milan have come to a mutual termination of his contract that will see the 30-year-old leave the club after four years.

He arrived on an initial loan deal from city rivals Inter before making the move permanent in 2012 to join the Rossoneri.

“AC Milan would like to thank Muntari for his commitment, devotion and professionalism that was always in evidence in the Milan shirt and defending the red and black colours and we wish him every success for the rest of his playing career,” read a club statement on the official website.

Muntari has previously enjoyed spells in the Premier League with both Portsmouth and Sunderland and he is once again being strongly linked with a return to England – Everton are believed to be the frontrunners for his signature.

The Ghanaian struggled for playing time last season, appearing 16 times in Serie A and scoring twice.
