AC Milan are reportedly planning a move for Fiorentina defender Stefan Savic.

Former Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is widely expected to be announced as the new Rossoneri coach in the coming days, and could make sanctioning a swoop for a defensive reinforcement one of his first actions.

According to SportItalia, the Serbian tactician is a keen admirer of Fiorentina’s Savic, and believes a player of his calibre would strengthen Milan.

Milan are poised to undergo a squad overhaul once the coaching change is finalised in the coming days, with the aim being to vastly improve on last season’s dismal 10th place Serie A finish.

Under Filippo Inzaghi, Milan recorded their lowest league finish in 17 years.

24-year-old Savic has featured in 86 league fixtures for the Viola since his 2012 move from English Premier League side Manchester City, and has been a Montenegro international through all youth and senior levels.
