Danilo Cataldi believes God intervened to stop Gonzalo Higuain’s penalty from going in during Lazio’s match with Napoli on Sunday.
The Argentinian striker blasted a 76th minute penalty over that, and had he scored it Napoli would have been 3-2 up and in the Champions League qualifying spots.
“When I saw that Napoli had a penalty, I thought that would be us [Lazio] out,” the midfielder told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We could have lost the fight for the Champions League. In fact there was a God on Sunday.
“I thought that our Lord Jesus stopped Higuain’s penalty.”
As it happened Lazio went on to win the game 4-2 and as a result are into the Champions League playoff round.
