Fiorentina are negotiating with Mohamed Salah’s agent to maintain the services of the Egyptian attacking midfielder past next season.

The Viola snatched Salah from Chelsea on a deadline-day deal in February, securing a loan for the seldom used fantasista, and he exploded onto the scene in Florence enjoying tremendous success in only half a season. The 22-year old was a creative force scoring nine goals in all competitions, prompting the club to extend the loan through the 2015-16 campaign.

Firenzeviola.it reported on Tuesday Salah’s agent, Ulisse Savini, was seen leaving the Stadio Artemio Franchi in an action-packed day for the Viola who are also looking to secure a new coach after sacking Vincenzo Montella.

The former Basel star, who was signed for €15 million by Chelsea in 2013 and rarely featured for coach Jose Mourinho, is reportedly not factoring Montella’s successor as a determining factor but evaluating his own desire to stay in Florence and continue pushing the new-look Fiorentina forward.

While according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player can trigger a clause in his contract and walk away if he doesn’t value the club’s prospects [at the end of the year].

However, Fiorentina can bypass the clause, but only by immediately purchasing the player’s contract from Chelsea for €18 million.
