AC Milan could be set to lose out on another target, after it has been revealed that Fiorentina have usurped the Rossoneri in the race for Parma star Jose Mauri.

The 19-year-old Italian youth international was one of the few shining lights in a miserable campaign for the Ducali as they suffered relegation, establishing himself as a regular under Roberto Donadoni.

Gazzetta.it report that after losing out to cross-town rivals Inter on Monaco star Geoffrey Kondogbia, and looking increasingly likely to do the same with Porto star Jackson Martinez, the Rossoneri are set to lose out on another target.

Despite being long-term admirers of the Parma youngster, it is Fiorentina now that are the closest to an agreement to sign the player after establishing regular contact in the past few days with Mauri and his entourage.

The Viola are keen to strengthen their midfield due to Alberto Aquilani and David Pizarro’s impending expiry of their current deals, and see Mauri as the perfect fit.

Mauri made 33 appearances for Parma this season, scoring twice in the process.
