Galatasaray are ready to tempt AC Milan’s Nigel De Jong, who is out of contract at the end of the season, with the lure of Champions League football.

The Rossoneri are keen to keep hold of the combative player with vice president Adriano Galliani planning to meet the 30-year-old to hold fresh contract talks, although the Dutchman is desperate to play in the Champions League next season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Turkish Champions have now entered the race to sign the Netherlands international as a replacement for Felipe Melo, who could be leaving the Istanbul side. Galatasaray would be willing to significantly increase his salary and challenge Manchester United, who are also keen on landing the tough-tackling midfielder.

De Jong signed for the Rossoneri on the final day of the 2012 summer transfer window from Manchester City and has gone on to make 89 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring seven goals.
