Italian side Genoa have officially renewed the contract of goalkeeper Mattia Perin till the summer of 2019.

Perin, who graduated from the youth ranks of the Grifone, was heavily linked with the move to a number of top European clubs with Liverpool assumed to be the front runners during this year’s January transfer window.

“Genoa announces officially that it has taken steps to renew the existing contract of goalkeeper Mattia Perin until June 30, 2019,” read an official statement from the club.

The 22-year-old has had a fantastic season having made a total of 33 appearances this season under coach Gian Piero Gasperini as his side finished sixth in the Serie A table on 59 points.

However, the shotstopper is currently out with a shoulder injury and could in fact miss the U21 European Championship which begins on June 17.
