Hellas Verona striker could return to River Plate

Hellas Verona striker Javier Saviola could make an emotional return to boyhood club River Plate in the summer.

The 33-year-old Argentinian international catapulted into super-stardom at Los Millonarios as a teenager, which then earnt him a huge-money move to Barcelona at the age of 19.

Moves to Monaco, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Benfica and Olympiacos followed, before the striker turned up at Hellas Verona where he has failed to convince this season, only netting a solitary strike in 15 games.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Saviola looks likely to depart Verona in the summer, and could make an emotional return to River to end his career.

River Plate recently signed former hero Pablo Aimar for the season, and could reunite the playmaker with another former icon in Saviola in the coming weeks.
