Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia has officially extended his contract with the club.

The extension of the player’s commitment to the Nerazzurri has been in the works for a long time, but only now has the club been able to confirm with delight the brand new contract.

The 27-year-old is now tied to the club on paper until 2019, Inter have stated on their official club website.

Italian Ranocchia has been a permanent fixture of the Milanese defence since making his switch to the city in 2011 from Genoa, amassing 119 Serie A appearances thus far.

The tall defender is also a mainstay in the Italy national side, with 20 caps to his name overall, three of them coming in this calendar year.

Ranocchia was promoted to the huge responsibility of club captain at the start of last season, replacing club legend Javier Zanetti.
