Inter star Mateo Kovacic has reached an agreement to leave the Serie A club in favour of a move to English Premier League side Liverpool.

The Austrian-born Croatian international has apparently been deemed surplus to requirements as Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini goes about rebuilding his squad ahead of next season.

According to reports in both the Daily Star and Croatian website Vecernji List, Kovacic has already spelled out his intention to complete the move to Anfield and is awaiting a financial solution between the two clubs before his switch is given the go-ahead.

Inter president Erick Thohir is expected to hold talks with officials of the Merseyside club soon in a bid to sanction the deal, but the fee remains a stumbling block.

The Indonesian businessman wants €25 million for the hugely promising 21-year-old, with the Reds only willing to part with €21m.
