Jackson Martinez’s agent Luis Enrique Pompeo confirmed that the Colombian will in fact join Atletico Madrid, ironically thanking AC Milan in the process.
AC Milan had looked in pole positions to sign Martinez, with the deal trailing over the medical visit, but Atletico Madrid stealing the march on the Rossoneri at the last minute.
Pompeo spoke about his client’s decision in choosing the Spanish giants over the Rossoneri, while sarcastically crediting AC Milan’s Adriano Galliani for helping bring the deal to fruition.
“I thank AC Milan and especially Galliani who did everything for him [Martinez] with the Rossoneri,” said Pompeo on CalcioMercato.com.
“Martinez preferred Spain for the sporting project and the deal will be official soon; he signed a four-year deal and Atletico have payed the clause [to Porto].”
