Serie A giants Juventus and Roma are reportedly behind in the race to sign Augsburg star Baba Rahman, after Arsenal entered the bidding.

The highly sought-after left-back has been the subject of strong interest from both the Bianconeri and Giallorossi so far this summer, but their attempts to win the 20-year-old’s attention could prove to be in vain with Arsenal considered favourites.

According to The Daily Mirror, Gunners coach Arsene Wenger sees the Ghanaian as part of their long-term future, which could begin with a serious assault on the English Premier League title next season.

With Juventus and Roma invested in making additions in other areas of the pitch, namely attacking players, Arsenal are believed to be in a good position to use their economic might to snatch Augsburg’s next prodigy.

Rahman made 31 appearances last year in what was his maiden Bundesliga season with the Bavarian outfit.
