Former Juventus player Alessandro Del Piero backed Andrea Pirlo’s reported move to MLS side NYCFC, rubber stamping the legitimacy of the 36-year-old’s decision.

After an impressive season when Juventus narrowly missed out on a treble when they lost the Champions League final to Barcelona, Pirlo would be ready to call an end to the Bianconeri chapter of his career.

Del Piero maintained backed Pirlo to make the right decision while also praising the rising stature of MLS, as well as commenting on Juventus’ upcoming season without the Italy international.

“The city [of New York] is great and MLS is growing,” said Del Piero to Sky Sport Italia.

“The Scudetto [and winning it again] will very much depend on the transfer market campaign and the other players [and their hunger] in the team.

“The synergy created in the group and during the training camp will be key.”
