Juventus star Andrea Pirlo is getting ever closer to signing a lucrative deal with Major League Soccer outfit New York City FC.
There are some fine details to iron out before an official announcement is made, but Pirlo is fully expected to complete his transatlantic switch over the coming days.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former AC Milan and Inter player will sign an initial contract lasting almost 18 months — from this summer until November 2016 — but is still negotiating the terms by which a possible additional year extension would be triggered.
The 36-year-old has enjoyed a highly successful career for club and country, having won almost every major honour in the game.
His four seasons with Juve has seen the Bianconeri claim four Serie A titles in succession, as well as the Coppa Italia during a double-winning campaign last season.
