vidal pirloJuventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo reportedly has a verbal agreement to leave Serie A for MLS outfit New York City.

The former AC Milan star wept following Saturday’s Champions League final defeat to Barcelona, leading to speculation his reaction represented a tearful farewell from the club after four years in Turin.

“Were my tears a goodbye to Juventus? No, they were for the defeat,” said Pirlo during an interview with Sky Sport Italia, in an effort to quell rumours of an imminent departure.

“It is simply the kind of opportunity that I may not get again.”

Although the player is yet to put to pen-to-paper on a contract, Sky Sport Italia insist the move will happen over the next few weeks.

The 36-year-old started his career at Brescia and subsequently enjoyed a 20-year professional career, but could be about to bring the curtain down on his time in Italian football according to the broadcaster.
