Joan Laporta, back in the running for a second stint at the Barcelona presidency, has promised that if elected, he will bring Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba to the Camp Nou.

The Champions League winners’ presidential election takes place next month on July 18 with Laporta, who held the position for seven years, one of the favourites for the position and Pogba is not the only promise he has made – insisting Eric Abidal will be installed as sporting director if he takes over.

Interviewed about his campaign on Radio Catalunya, he said: “I know that Pogba would love to come to Barcelona and I have a great relationship with [his agent] Mino Raiola.

“It would be the best reinforcement for us and I believe that he would fit in very well with our style of play.”

Pogba has been closely linked with moves to Barca, Real Madrid, PSG and a host of English clubs during this summer transfer window already.
