With Lazio readying themselves for Champions League football next season, striker Fabio Borini looks set to return to the capital from Premier League side Liverpool, although fellow attacker Cedric Bakambu could be priced out of a move to Rome.

Despite one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings the 24-year-old has found playing time difficult to come by on Merseyside and Biancocelesti coach Stefano Pioli expects to secure his signature shortly.

However, according to Il Messaggero, Bursaspor striker Bakambu arrival is less certain with Lazio considering the Turkish club’s €9m valuation too high, but will not see the Serie A club move for one-time target Gaston Ramirez of Southampton.

Borini’s last adventure in the capital, although with city rivals Roma, proved extremely fruitful netting nine times in 24 Serie A appearances and Lazio will be hoping he can recapture that form in their colours.
