Jean-Michel Aulas, president of French side Lyon has declared his club’s interest in AC Milan defender Adil Rami.

The French defender has fallen out of favour in Filippo Inzaghi’s side, failing to star in any games since Milan’s 3-1 loss to Genoa in April, and could be tempted to leave the Rossoneri for a return to Ligue 1 with Lyon knocking on the door, despite having two years left to run on his contract.

The Lyon president has furthered speculation of a possible departure by announcing the desire which his side holds to bring in the 29-year-old.

“He’s an excellent player,” Aulas told in an interview. “And we really like him here at Lyon.

“He currently plays for a big club with a lot of time still remaining on his contract, so we will have to look at the costs.

“But he is definitely part of the list of players that Hubert Fournier [coach of Lyon] wants.”

Rami played in Ligue 1 with Lille for four years before moving to Spain with Valencia CF, and then Italy.
