Dries Mertens NapoliInter coach Roberto Mancini has asked his directors to try and sign Napoli forward Dries Mertens in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old Belgian international enjoyed another productive campaign with the Partonopei, and has been linked with a move to English Premier League outfit Liverpool as well.

Sky Sport Italia report that Mancini is a huge admirer of the player’s talents, and is desperate to see him join the Nerazzurri ranks for next season.

Napoli however are loathe to sell one of their attacking stars, and with Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain linked with exits, they will want to keep the tricky winger.

Inter have identified Torino veteran Fabio Quagliarella as an alternative to Mertens, and will make a play if a move for the Belgian is not viable.

Mertens played 47 times for Napoli across all competitions this season, netting ten goals and assisting 11 others.
