Inter coach Roberto Mancini has denied reports that Mateo Kovacic is set to sign for Liverpool, insisting he will be staying at the Stadio Meazza.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield, and it has been reported that the Nerazzurri have set a €25 million asking price for the Croatian. While, Liverpool are said to be mulling a player-exchange deal.

“Kovacic will become a champion,” Mancini told Sky Sport Italia. “He is young, but has already improved a lot. I think he will stay at Inter

“I don’t think there is anything going on with him regarding a transfer.”

When pressed on who he would like Inter to sign during the summer, Mancini wasn’t giving much away.

“Perisic is a player I like,” the tactician went on. “But, as with a lot of teams, Wolfsburg don’t need to sell.

“It isn’t easy, you have to be good at finding players, and maybe a little lucky, because certain clubs don’t want to sell you their best players.”
