Sinisa Mihajlovic will be the new AC Milan coach following a meeting with club president Silvio Berlusconi on Wednesday evening.

The 46-year-old had dinner with Berlusconi and vice-president Adriano Galliani as they looked to come to an agreement on the Serb being Filippo Inzaghi’s successor.

According to Sport Mediaset, Inzaghi is expected to be relieved of his duties on Thursday, with an official announcement on Mihajlovic expected the same day, or on Friday.

Mihajlovic led Sampdoria to a seventh place finish in Serie A this season and qualified for the Europa League, after Genoa were denied a UEFA licence.

He also had a successful spell in charge of Catania, though his tenure at Fiorentina was cut short in November 2011 when he was sacked by the club.
