AC Milan star Riccardo Montolivo believes his recovery is on track, meaning he should be ready to start the new campaign after last season was wrecked by injury.

The Italian international made just 10 Serie A appearances due to a broken leg and subsequent operation, while his teammates could only muster a mid-table league position.

“I’m working in Milanello getting ready to meet up in July,” said Montolivo during an interview with Milan Channel.

“I need to regain muscle tone, but I’m working hard to recover and will be ready for pre-season training.

“My leg feels as it did before the injury. That’s important for a player. I’m convinced that I have come full circle since the operation in May.”

Former Fiorentina man Montolivo also spelled out a determination to help the Rossoneri regain their place among the peninsula’s footballing elite next term.

“There is a great desire for revenge after a disappointing season,” continued the 30-year-old midfielder.

“The club is working hard to strengthen the team, and great players are always welcome.

“There is a great sense of responsibility on the part of the players. We feel indebted to the fans, and we must do our utmost to fill the stadium.”
