Gonzalo Higuain NapoliNapoli released a statement on Thursday as a direct response to recent rumours regarding the future of their star forward Gonzalo Higuain.

Although he is currently in Chile, chasing Argentina’s first Copa America title since 1993, Higuain has been heavily linked to clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal, and AC Milan

Some reports have claimed that a fee in the vicinity of €50 million would be enough to lure the player out of Naples, something which Napoli quickly moved to quash.

“With reference to the stories being spread by some of the media about the possible departure of Higuain for a fee in the region of €50m, SSC Napoli would like to make it clear that the Argentine attacker has a release clause in his contract valued at €94,736,000,” read the statement, which was broadcast by Radio Kiss Kiss.

To further dissuade their star striker’s suitors, Napoli added that the fee would have to be paid in one installment.

Two seasons after his arrival from Real Madrid, the Argentine’s goal tally for the Partenopei stands at 35 in 69 matches.
