Napoli attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik is one name on Rafa Benitez’s transfer shortlist at new club Real Madrid.
Benitez has been officially confirmed as Los Blancos head coach on a three-year contract and will be presented to the media on Wednesday, with the signing of his former captain said to be a high priority.
According to reports from Spanish website Fichajes.net, Benitez would like to be reunited with the 27-year-old Slovakian, as he bids to put his own stamp on the Real squad in implementing a tried and trusted 4-2-3-1 formation.
The website also suggests Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is another on the radar of the ex-Reds boss.
Hamsik made 35 Serie A appearances as the Azzurri finished fifth in the league table, while starring throughout the club’s intriguing runs to the Coppa Italia and Europa League semi-finals.
