Germany drew 1-1 with Serbia on Wednesday night at the Letna Stadium in Prague, Czech Republic in the 2015 European Under-21 Championship.

Both the goals came in the first half, with Filip Djuricic opening the scoring for Mladen Dodic’s team and then Emre Can equalised for Horst Hrubesch’s side.

The second half saw a flurry of cards and German left-back Christian Guenter was sent-off after receiving a second yellow for diving. His first offence was for a foul on goal scorer Djuricic.

Did we get our ratings right? Have your say below.

Germany U-21

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen – 6.5 – Sharp

The Barcelona goalkeeper was alert and he looked unflustered against Serbia’s pacey attack. He made a vital save when he pushed Goran Causic’s free-kick onto the bar and then tipped the ball away for good after it bounced off the crossbar.

Julian Korb – 5 – Beaten

He failed to overlap, even when Germany had possession and he struggled to deal with Serbia’s counter-attacks which were coming down his part of the pitch.

Matthias Ginter – 5.5 – Average

His defending was better than Robin Knoche’s but he also had a bit of trouble dealing with the pace of the Serbian attackers.

Robin Knoche – 5 – Suspect

Torn apart by Djuricic for the Serbian goal, the centre-back was vulnerable throughout the entire match.

Christian Guenter – 4.5 – Woeful

He had a long-range effort on goal but that was his most positive contribution. Two yellow cards in the second half were followed by a red card in an insipid display from the left-back.

Emre Can – 7 – Metronome

He attacked from a deep-lying position in midfield and he improved in the second half. Equalised for Germany after swerving past Darko Brasanac and striking a low, right-foot shot past Marko Dmitrovic.

Moritz Leitner – 5 – Mundane

Aside from a shot that went straight at Dmitrovic, he offered little in the first half and he received a yellow card for a foul on Slavoljub Srnic. Replaced by Joseph Kimmich after the interval.

Kevin Volland – 7 – Menacing

The Hoffenheim winger was one of Germany’s most dangerous attacking threats, always looking to create chances for his teammates or even try his own luck. Laid the ball off to Can for the equaliser.

Max Meyer – 5 – Anonymous

It was hard to notice if he was even on the pitch at all. Serbia were tight at the back and the lack of space in the middle meant that he had barely any space to work in.

Amin Younes- 6.5 – Tricky

Played a part in Germany’s equaliser when he crossed from the left-wing and found Volland, who then passed to Can. Gave Filip Stojkovic a lot of trouble down the left flank.

Philipp Hofmann – 5 – Subdued

He could have given Germany the lead but his header flashed across goal. The striker struggled to combine with his teammates and didn’t put Serbia under much pressure.

Substitutes

Joshua Kimmich – 6 – Dependable

He replaced Leitner at half-time and allowed Can more room to attack from deep.

Nico Schulz – 5.5 – Disciplined

He came on for Hofmann after Guenter was sent-off and he kept things tight in defence.

Leonardo Bittencourt – N/A

He replaced Meyer after 77 minutes.

Serbia U-21

Marko Dmitrovic – 6 – Calm

The Serbian goalkeeper wasn’t tested very often and he didn’t look nervous in goal despite conceding the equaliser.

Filip Stojkovic – 5.5 – Humbled

He was decent in his attacking forays but he struggled against Younes when he had to defend.

Uros Spajic – 7 – Commanding

He kept things tight at the back and his anticipation was superb.

Aleksandar Pantic – 6.5 – Solid

Not as commanding as Spajic but he made sure that the Germans struggled to play through the middle of the park.

Nemanja Petrovic – 5.5 – Undone

He offered some support offensively but he struggled to deal with Volland when Germany went on the attack.

Goran Causic – 6.5 – Workhorse

He contributed well in defence and in attack and he nearly put Serbia 2-1 up with a thunderous free-kick just before half-time. Received a yellow card after colliding with Hofmann.

Filip Djuricic – 7 – Spark

Serbia showed some quality in attack, especially in the first half. Djuricic was the main reason for this with his passing and dribbling with which he opened the scoring after a solo run.

Darko Brasanac – 5.5 – Shaky

Can turned him inside out for the equaliser and then the Serbian midfielder received a yellow card for fouling Kimmich. He did make a fine tackle on Volland in the penalty box to stop a goal scoring opportunity.

Milos Jojic – 6.5 – Lively

The Borussia Dortmund winger took some time to get into the match but then he was able to start cutting-in from the right-wing and took a few shots on goal.

Aleksandar Pesic – 6 – Fine

His link-up play was decent and he provided a decoy for his midfielders who were making quick runs from deep positions. Could have scored the winner near the end.

Slavoljub Srnic – 6.5 – Composed

He combined well with Djuricic and he demonstrated some composure when he had the ball.

Substitutes

Aleksandar Cavric – N/A

He replaced Srnic with less than 15 minutes remaining.

Luka Milunovic – N/A

He came on for Jojic just before injury time.

Nikola Trujic – N/A

He was put onto the field to replace Pesic with less than a minute remaining.
