ParmaCoppaItalia1992MelliOsioAlthough their presence in Italy’s football pyramid next season is not yet assured, Parma Calcio 1913 are still a draw for some well known investors.

The new club will find out on June 29 if they are to be admitted to Serie D after no bidder was able to match the level of debt the original Parma had managed to accumulate.

La Stampa indicate that, should Parma Calcio 1913 get the go ahead, companies such as Parmalat and Barilla will be represented on the board of the new club.

Parmalat were iconic shirt sponsors of the Ducali during their millennial heyday, and after their own bankruptcy – the biggest in Europe’s history – exist only as a subsidiary of French company Lactalis.

Meanwhile, Guido Barilla, chairman of the world’s most popular pasta company, is also thought to be investing some of his personal wealth in the new club.

With Barilla based in Parma, he has a vested interest in ensuring the club progress, as his son plays in the Ducali’s youth system.
