After nearly reaching an agreement to sign the remaining part of Radja Nainggolan’s contract, the negotiations between Roma and Cagliari have hit another stumbling block.
The Belgian international enjoyed a fine 2014/15 in the capital, his first full season for the Lupi, who finished second in Serie A, which saw great consistency from the midfield dynamo despite wavering form by the team as a whole.
That encouraged the Giallorossi to seal the remainder of his contract, currently co-owned with recently relegated Cagliari, before a blind auction took place as the co-ownership rule came to an end in Italian football, with Sky Sport Italia reporting that a €20 million fee was close to agreement.
However, as negotiations reached their conclusion the Rossoblu have now demanded €2m extra, as a bonus due if Roma qualify for the Champions League next season.
This sets back any deal further, with reports suggesting that Cagliari will sell the midfielder to Serie A champions Juventus if they can claim the entirety of his contract.
