ac milan mattia destroRoma striker Mattia Destro could be set to join Fiorentina as the Tuscans hope to offload Mario Gomez to AS Monaco.

Destro endured an unsettled season in 2014-15 as he struggled during a loan spell at AC Milan after moving from the Giallorossi in January and the Italian is now seeking regular first team football.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the 24-year-old Italian has rejected a move to Monaco, instead preferring to stay in Italy.

Fiorentina could provide the ideal solution for all concerned by sending out of favour German striker Gomez to Monaco with Destro filling the Gigliati’s need for a centre-forward.

Gomez scored just four Serie A goals in 2014/15 despite playing in a Viola side featuring an abundance of creative talent including Matias Fernandez, Borja Valero and Mohamed Salah.

Destro hit the back of the net eight times in a season split between Roma and AC Milan but Fiorentina believe that he could thrive under new coach Paulo Sousa.
