Iker CasillasRoma have been linked with a surprise move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Morgan De Sanctis is currently the Giallorossi’s No.1, however the 38-year-old is approaching the end of his career and the hierarchy at the club are now seeking a replacement for the forthcoming Serie A season.

Spanish newspaper AS have reported that Casillas is on Roma’s radar but a major stumbling block may be posed by the player’s wage demands which the Lupi are unlikely to be able to afford.

The 34-year-old presently earns a total of €7.5 million per season with Real Madrid while the Giallorossi’s highest paid player is Daniele De Rossi who is on a contract worth €6.5 per year.

The Spanish captain is currently under contract until 2017 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, however a summer departure is growing increasingly likely due to the possible arrival of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

Casillas made 32 league appearances for Los Blancos during the 2014-15 season.
