Roma have opened negotiations with Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic as they look to seal a deal, also involving forward Adem Ljajic.

The Giallorossi have been in touch with Fali Ramadini, the Jovetic’s agent,as they aim to strengthen their front line, but face competition from rivals Juventus and Inter in capturing the Montenegrin’s signature.

According to Il Messaggero, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has met with Ramadini, who is also the agent of Serbian forward Ljajic, to discuss a deal to sign Jovetic, using Ljajic as part of any transfer.

Roma had originally been linked to another Manchester City striker, Edin Dzeko, but have now turned their attention to his team-mate Jovetic who previously had a successful spell in Serie A with Fiorentina before moving to the Premier League two years ago.

The use of Ljajic, also formerly of Fiorentina, will try to significantly lower the Premier League side’s demands of over €20 million for the out of favour Montenegrin.

Best to avoid dealing with Italian clubs who want everyone either on loan or on the cheap. Time wasters.
