Astori romaRoma defender Davide Astori looks unlikely to join the club on a permanent basis.

Astori joined the Giallorossi on loan from Cagliari at the beginning of the 2014/15 Serie A season, signing a contract which gave the club the right to buy him on a permanent basis, although it looks unlikely that the Italian league runners-up will take up this option.

Sky Sport Italia reports that the 28-year-old is going to return to the Rossoblu, although not for long as other clubs appear to be interested in signing the defender.

German Bundesliga side Schalke and English premier League team Sunderland have shown an interest in Astori, appearing 30 times overall for the capital club with one goal to his name.

He joined Cagliari in 2008 from AC Milan, although he didn’t actually appear once for the Rossoneri in the league after spending both seasons with the club away on loan.
