Silvan Widmer udineseUdinese say they have no intention of letting Switzerland full-back Silvan Widmer leave this summer, unless someone decides to comes in with a substantial offer, with Napoli said to hot on the heels of the defender.

The 22-year-old has been a huge success at the Stadio Friuli since his move from Swiss Super League side FC Aarau in 2012 and was voted Swiss Young Player of the Year in 2013.

New Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri is in the market for a new full-back and sees the Zebrette defender as an ideal option, but Bianconeri president Franco Soldati poured scorn on any potential deal.

“Widmer is a player on the rise and many teams are taking an interest in him,” Soldati told Radio CRC.

“There are evaluations to be done but we are under no pressure to sell and we want to keep our best players.”

The former FC Baden player made 35 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
